WHAT IS SOMATIC COACHING?
In somatic coaching I combine elements from modalities such as Timani, Nutritious Movement™, Myofascial Energetic Release (MER), Mind Detox and Mindfullness, coupled with recent scientific research regarding Trauma, the Fascia system and the Autonomic Nervous System, the Polyvagal Theory, somatic trauma work and breath techniques.
Somatic coaching helps you to land in your Being experientially and from that point of reference to address physical or mental challenges with your body as an active participant in the process.
In a session we work with tools like physical movement exercises, guided somatic meditations, movement analysis, somatic awareness or interoceptive training, and breath-techniques coupled with cognitive coaching techniques.
The foundations of these sessions are therapeutic self-improvement, rather than therapy, hence the word “coaching”.
A session can be physically active or subtle and still, tailored to your unique situation. You achieve tools to meet the challenges in your life in a more embodied and fluid way with your body as an active participant in the process.
Embodied awareness involves awakening a deeply felt-sens of ourselves, a sense which can then function as a point of reference or compass from which to navigate our lives in a more fluid way.
My work and the techniques I use are founded on the principles of the Polyvagal Theory and the functions of the Autonomic Nervous system. For a great introduction to these topics see the video below
